This policy brief sets out the evolution of community policing in Kenya to date, and provides analysis on the key challenges hindering the realization of effective community policing in the country. It features short case studies of community policing practice in Tanzania and South Africa, and concludes with policy options and recommendations that can be pursued to strengthen community policing in Kenya.
